I opened the box yesterday. She's such a pretty doll. I'm a bit afraid to take out her hair. I didn't realize it was braided. It's a simple braid though- should be easy to recreate.

Mom also bought me her accessories. I wish the pinner cap came with pins like Felicity's did. I can't figure out how to get the earring posts in. My other gift item was Elizabeth's riding habit. I love it! The fabric is so soft, and I love how it has separate pieces. My Elizabeth has been in and out of her 2 dresses twice since I took her out. hehe. (I still think she'd look lovely as a brunette though.)

I wish my 13 yr old Lissie still had hair as soft as Elizabeth's, but hers is like hay. I'm not sending her in for a new head- the new ones look too different. Has anyone sent a doll in for a wellness visit? I'm thinking of trying it.

Incidentally, even though my Lissie is much thicker in the middle than Elizabeth, she was able to wear her dress with no problems.

Congrats on your new Elizabeth! Glad to hear you were so pleased with her too... and I will definitely agree that her hair is incredible.

I think the old Lissies are so much prettier as well. Have you thought about taking yours to the hair salon next time you go to an AGP? They seem to work wonders on frazzled doll hair... though I don't know if it's any better than what you could do yourself. Good luck!

Actually, sending Felicity for a visit to the salon or hospital won't change the texture of her hair. I stood and watched the salon in Chicago, and they are very, very rough. The dolls lose a lot of hair.

What your Felicity needs is a Downy Dunk and Steam. From what I've seen in pictures, older Felicitys retore *very* well.

Here is a detailed album by Joy: http://www.imagestation.com/album/pi...?id=4288869625

And here is a less detailed album of a Josefina restoration I did: http://www.imagestation.com/album/pi...?id=2119785111

If you have questions, please feel free to PM me. Congrats on your Elizabeth!

It was attempting the Downy dunk that damaged her hair in the first place! I made the mistake of dunking her hair directly into boiling water so it was damanged from the heat. Samantha's was so bad that I did send her in for a new head, but Lissie's I decided not to.

Try just "dunking" her hair in full-strength room-temperature Downy for at least an hour (be sure to protect her eyes) and then follow the directions in the reconditioning album in the justmagicdolls.com site.
Truly a miraculous transformation!

Last night I washed and straightened my PM Kirsten's hair, and didn't even use the downy. She is from around 1990, and the ends were frizzled, so I washed her hair and carefully brushed it out. When it was jut slightly damp, I used a cheapy hair straightener on its lowest setting and straightened it in little sections. Her hair looks so good now! The ends are nice and smooth, and it is a little bit longer because the knots and fly-aways are all straightened out!

I wonder if using a straightener on a very low setting might make the hair straight even with the heat damage from before. I wouldn't use a high heat setting, and I would just go at it dry, but it may help. I hope it can be fixed!!
